Jade
Jade, together with her son Ace, was still (kind of) living on the streets back in Turkey and only got added to the sanctuary dogs when we moved to Italy since we absolutely couldn't leave them behind. "Kind of" meaning she was living in front of the house, always there on time for breakfast and cuddles throughout the day, but Jade was still free to roam around when and wherever she pleased. This arrangement started when Jade showed up at the sanctuary one day, after she was already part of the street feed, to lead us somewhere... which, it turned out, she led us to her son Ace who had dislocated his hip and needed human help. Smart as she was, Jade knew where to go to get that help. And while Ace recovered inside the house, Jade took up residency outside. Once Ace got better he joined his mom outside and both of them never left.
After an adjustment period she now enjoys the more quiet way of life that comes with living in the sanctuary.
Since Jade was living on the streets for several years she definitely has those street smarts about her and she is one clever girl. She is doing okay with the other dogs she's living with, however if someone is grumpy with her she won't let it slide every time. Jade enjoys her peace and quiet, finding cozy corners in her depot. Mornings are when Jades silly side comes out, greeting us with wiggly dances when she sees us first thing after waking up.
Jade also enjoys cuddles – her favourite thing is getting those belly scratches and she could be on her back all day getting her belly rubbed. While she is content with us, Jade would make a perfect, loyal companion for someone out there!
