Our gorgeous little wild fox Lucy was a lucky girl that crossed our path in spring 2020. We spotted her in the forest – a skinny young mom, struggling to take care of herself and breastfeeding 4 puppies.

They were brought in and quarantined for over a month, since unfortunately the babies had parvo. Three of them survived under our care and are living amazing lives in the UK and Germany now, but Lucy is still with us. A very brave and loving mom, she would tell her puppies off when they were being too much, but would also jump in front of any dog that was being rude to them, no matter the size.

Lucy has the softest coat and is an absolute sweetheart. Quite energetic sometimes, plays with puppies like she's one of them, but won't miss a chance of a quiet snuggle, leaning against us like a cat.

While a lot of shelter dogs come with baggage and lots of things they still have to learn Lucy is basically ready for her home. She walks on the leash nicely (not even too bothered when walking past other dogs barking at her), is well-behaved at the vets and greets new people friendly and calmly.

While Lucy generally lives in an enclosure with other dogs she has had the luxury of a few short-term stays in our main house in a bedroom with our volunteers to which she also adapted perfectly. No accidents inside, no sock-stealing or furniture-chewing. Lucy is pretty much as perfect as they come, only waiting for someone to come along and finally notice her.

You can find more pictures and recent updates on Lucy's time with us on our Instagram on Lucy's dedicated story highlight here.
