Tyson
On September 2021 we were all having a rest after the morning chores, when we heard a car parking outside... we could only understand it was dog related, obviously, so looked through the window to check and could see no one â only heard something hitting the walls inside, moving desperately. It's 40â°C and there's (yet another) dog in the all metallic boot of the car! We ask him to hurry up and open it, while he smiles and takes out a 27kg pup, who is terrified and overheating, with a chain around his neck. Our Turkish ex-volunteer Ecem helped translate on the phone and he said the puppy was chasing bikes in the village and everyone told him about this place that takes dogs in...
Though last thing we want is for people to think we're a dog dumpster, how could we tell him to take the dog back when he was that fearful of the man?
He drank the water once the man was gone, had a hose pipe cooling down and his first meal. Made us all fall in love with him being a super snuggling pup on the way to the vets (now in the back seat and with a/c!) and has learnt he can trust and love us, though he's still very subservient. Though he is very skinny, his blood test was ok, he only had a bit of mange that was fully treated! Our handsome pup is extremely loyal and nothing but affectionate to us, but can be a bit rude to strangers handling him. We can understand his trust issues and are working on it, socializing him with many new volunteers and have definitely noticed a lot of progress! We lovingly call him moody because he will let you know if he's not up for a cuddle. Some mornings he greets us by jumping up or laying down on his back requesting cuddles, other mornings he barely looks at us â but as long as his borders are respected, Tyson is a sweet and loyal companion and his grumpy days are slowly but steadily becoming less frequent.
